The
Sarah Palin-Katie Couric interview is all over the net. The interview is hilarious! I almost feel sorry for Palin. The poor thing is so clueless...you just want to pat her and tell her, "Honey, it's okay, you can go back to your moose and hockey games." But
the SNL skit just takes the cake!
Tina Fey is, as usual, awesome as Palin! If this was a Bollywood script, then Fey would
pucca be playing Palin's long lost twin :)
Amy Poehler plays
Couric.
SNL had earlier come up with
yet another winner...with Fey doing her first Palin impression and Poehler reprising her Clinton act.
By the way, Fey supposedly had
reservations about doing the Palin impression.
And talking of
Sarah Palin, the
Great Bong, as usual, comes up with an amazing
what-if account of the VP hopeful's
rendezvous with Pakistani Premier Asif Ali Zardari. Watching
Zardari gush over how gorgeous Palin is (which, according to him, explains why the US is going nuts over the 'lipstick hockey mom'), is like watching a
Lollywood villain leching over the nubile, gullible heroine!
Here's a video of the incident.
Palin is such a problematic figure. Thinking of her as a
symbol of women's empowerment is a very scary thought, and as a VP candidate, even more scarier. Enough has been said about her...she's super anti-choice (Palin does not support pregnancy termination even in the case of rape and incest victims), believes that creationism should be taught in schools, is against marriage equality and supports a federal gay marriage ban (though she makes it a point to emphasize that she has "gay friends"), she has a terrible track record when it comes to environment issues, and let's not even get into foreign policy. And yet, she's supposedly
broken through the glass ceiling, though one wonders whether it's because of her
VPILF quotient, or because she avoids Clinton-esque tangerine
pant suits!
Here's
Matt Damon describing the prospect of Palin becoming a Prez as "
a really bad Disney movie"
